High street app brings Easter fun to Ilkley through an interactive trail

Created on 17/05/21

The public were delighted to discover egg-xciting Easter egg hunts across the country with a series of fun digital trails on the LoyalFree app as businesses started reopening after lockdown restrictions were lifted.

What is a trail on the LoyalFree app?

The LoyalFree app tours & trails feature works by grouping together businesses to make life easier for the app user. For example, a trail could see a group of businesses combined into one easy-to-access place which customers can use to complete their Mother’s Day shopping or discover a Gluten Free trail that promises to help those with dietary requirements dine out safely.

Ilkley Easter Egg Hunt Trail

Discover Ilkley ensured locals and visitors had a hoppy Easter with their 26 location Easter Egg Trail in the area. The family friendly, interactive trail saw funky egg posters displayed in businesses around the town, each with a QR code on which participants could scan using technology built into the LoyalFree app. App users were encouraged to visit all locations on the trail for a chance to win one of many fantastic Easter themed prizes!

The trail was live for three weeks around the Easter period to ensure plenty of time for participants to enjoy the fun activity.

The results:

  • The Easter trail attracted over 400 views on the app
  • This led to an incredible 650 scans

The Trail successfully encouraged the public to discover more of the town by following the trail. On average, those who took part scanned at 20 locations across Ilkley!

What made this successful?

Launching over the Easter half-term, and coinciding with the reopening of some businesses after the covid-19 lockdowns, this trail was guaranteed to peak interest! Paired with brilliant marketing around the city and an exciting prize, the trail managed to attract hundreds of people to discover more of Ilkley.

The QR code was made visible at all the sites by locating them clearly on large, bright posters in the window of participating businesses, making it easy and obvious to both passers-by and app users what the trail was about and what they needed to scan to be entered into the prize draw.

This year has been unlike any other and LoyalFree’s digital trails proved a great way to counter the predicted low footfall after covid-19 lockdowns. Not only did the trail encourage hundreds of people to discover more of their local high street, we also saw an increase in deals being collected through the app showing the public were spending in the local area.
