Arcade Coffee and Food

Nestled inside the lovely Byram Arcade, you’ll find Arcade Coffee and Food. And, as the name suggests, they do great coffee and food! When it comes to the hot drinks, Arcade Coffee is a definite contender for best coffee in Huddersfield. 

But for the food options, you’ll find excellent lunch options such as burgers and curries alongside the standard cakes and breakfast fare.

Caffe Venecia

43 Market Street, HD1 2HL

This Italian themed independent cafe is well located as a refuelling stop in Huddersfield city centre for those doing their weekend shopping or on the way to work. Expect excellent barista made coffee, top quality tea and Italian inspired snacks. 

They also have some very indulgent looking cakes for those after a sweet treat. And if you’re after something more filling, the menu at Caffe Venecia features classic British fare including bacon butties and an excellent fry up.

Caffe Venecia also features a small outside seating area where you can take your refreshments al-fresco and under cover.

Lost Property Coffee Shop and Kitchen

If you’re looking for more of an event with your coffee, then head to the Lost Property Coffee Shop and Kitchen, perfectly located in Huddersfield town centre. You can, of course, just drop in for a cup of Joe to go (or drink in) But experiencing the afternoon tea is definitely a must for anyone looking for a fun thing to do in Huddersfield with friends or family…

Run by Paul Ellis, a local who has worked in various Michelin rated restaurants, the food is very much Instagram worthy and, of course, delicious. If you want to experience the afternoon tea, make sure to book ahead first.

Turntable Coffee and Vinyl

35 New Street, HD1 2BQ

Yes, you read that right… This town centre coffee shop offers great coffee, freshly prepared food including grilled cheese toasties (including vegan options) and kids meals, and – yup you guessed it – lots of vinyl records for you to browse. 

Even if you’re not here to dig in the crates, Turntable Coffee and Vinyl is consistently rated as one of the best cafes in town by locals. What other reason do you need to drop by and sample a brew?

Bex’s Cafe

72d Westbourne Road, HD1 4LE

Heading away from Huddersfield city centre is this gem of an independent coffee shop. Bex’s Cafe is a short walk from Greenhead Park and on the main road heading to the M62. But they are a definite choice for best coffee shop in Huddersfield thanks to their own roast coffee beans, quirky interior and excellent food.

The Wellington Mills complex houses offices, some residential apartments and this excellent coffee shop. Obviously popular with locals and office workers nearby, it’s definitely worth popping in if you happen to be out at this end of town and you’re looking for some delicious food and quality coffee.

Old George features a mouth watering array of cakes, plenty of top notch brunch options and of course, excellent coffee. They’re also dog friendly, and they even offer a puppacino for your furry companion…

Centre Coffee House

Cathedral House, St Thomas Road, HD1 3LG

Located in the Cathedral House complex is this fab cafe and bistro. Another option popular with locals and office workers, the Centre Coffee House offers some enticing breakfast and brunch options alongside good coffee. 

The space is also quite large and chilled out, so you can relax with your coffee and cake at your leisure.

Paninos

22 Newsome Road, HD4 6NY

This cafe in the south of Huddersfield offers lots of great brunch options to go, including paninis and wraps, as well as cakes and cookies. And of course they also feature great barista made coffee too.
