Dorking Town Partnership (DTP) is delighted to announce the start of their new initiative to boost high street sales in collaboration with LoyalFree. The high street is moving forward to an interactive experience between both traditional and digital sales by integrating QR scanning technology with customer-facing shop fronts, titled ‘Buy The Window’.
Patrons of Dorking businesses will now be able to purchase shop window stock from their phones by scanning QR coded posters located on customer-facing windows. This technology will then bring the customer to an online shop platform where they can purchase the item in the shop window. These sales enable the high street shopping experience to continue whilst maintaining safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purchases are instant through the LoyalFree marketplace with businesses providing collection or delivery services.
Local businesses in Dorking that are categorised as non-essential benefit by being able to trade their window stock whilst their doors are temporarily closed due to national lockdown. ‘Buy The Window’ is one way Dorking Town Partnership are expanding their Shop Dorking Support Local campaign by utilising technology to connect local, independent businesses in Dorking with the local community whilst trading restrictions are in place.
Charlotte Whitaker, BID Manager for DTP, commented: “Dorking Town Partnership is delighted to partner with LoyalFree Marketplace on this innovative and covid friendly way to shop the high street. Our Shop Dorking Support Local campaign highlights the importance of shopping local and supporting the community and this is an additional and welcome way of doing this.”
Jena Dickson, Partnerships Manager for LoyalFree, commented: “We are thrilled to be able to give customers a way that they can still shop local and support their favourite businesses in a safe way at this difficult time. We have seen a brilliant uptake from businesses already.”
