Cathedral Quarter Derby and St Peters Quarter Derby Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have both launched new partnerships with multi-award-winning app LoyalFree, as part of their plans to continually increase footfall in the city.

LoyalFree is an innovative place promotion app that showcases vital area information for locals and visitors including a local guide, exciting trails, digital loyalty cards, exclusive deals and fun local events. The free-to-download app is designed to boost footfall and sales in the City by encouraging consumers to explore the area and support local businesses.

St Peters Quarter has an integral role in the shaping of Derby’s city centre. Representing over 450 businesses and offering traditional high street shopping with a large range of national and independent shops. Voted ‘Best City Location’ at the 2016 Great British High Street awards, the Cathedral Quarter is home to over 500 businesses, known for its unique independents and cultural venues, as well as family friendly street entertainment. The two BIDs are continuing their efforts to showcase the best of what each quarter has to offer with the integration of the LoyalFree app! BID members will now benefit from advertising opportunities, customer insights and social media support. Local businesses already signed up include The Kitchen, Selena’s Contemporary Flowers, Fraiche and many more.

Brad Worley, BID Manager for Cathedral Quarter Derby and St Peters Quarter Derby, is excited at this chance to support both visitors and BID levy payers at the same time; “With such pressures on household budgets right now, it’s great to be able to help visitors to the two BID areas make their money go further, and it’s also a marvellous opportunity for businesses in these two vibrant areas of Derby to showcase their offerings to a wider audience.

“A lot of our businesses benefit from their own loyalty schemes so to be able to offer a digital platform that needs no training and is completely free to our levy paying businesses is a brilliant opportunity. As we develop the app further the trails that we are able to add to
get people moving around our city is the bit that really excites me so it really is worth downloading and getting involved,” he adds.

James Hurdis from Derby business [Canopy], a BID levy payer in the [Cathedral] Quarter, echoes this sentiment. “This is a fantastic initiative and we can’t wait to welcome users of the LoyalFree app into our store. We’ve already added an exclusive offer which will be
available on the app and look forward to seeing it develop over time.

LoyalFree’s digital trails are a great way that app users can explore the City’s history, hidden gems and best independents! There are already many exciting trails live on the app including the Cafe Culture Trail and History Trail in the Cathedral Quarter as well as The Poetry Trail and Ale Trail in St Peters Quarter. Keep your eyes peeled for more trails being added very soon, plus interactive experiences in the town through the place promotion app.

St Peters Quarter and Cathedral Quarter BID’s have worked in partnership with Derby City Council to deliver a poetry project as part of the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) Vibrancy Fund. The purpose of the grant funding was to create a more vibrant and interesting environment for visitors to the city centre. As well as poetry on occupied units we both BID areas have a host of artwork installed on vacant units as well to improve the aesthetic.

James McInerney has been running the Poetry Project since December 2018. The aim of the project is to get poetry into places you wouldn’t normally see it and open people`s eyes to the joy of poetry. Since this project has been running, the response from the commuters has been amazing! Discover the poetry project trail in St Peters Quarter on the LoyalFree app.

Sophie Hainsworth, co-founder of LoyalFree, said: ‘‘We are delighted to have not one, but two Derby BID’s join us. This partnership will allow app users to explore more of the City, offering the chance to discover exciting new venues and businesses in two diverse areas, using our digital platform.’’
